General Contracting
How a monolithic frame is built
The sequence repeated on every level of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure. This is the general method of monolithic construction, shown to explain the work.

Setting out and formwork
Formwork is erected to line and level and propped to carry the wet concrete.

Reinforcement
Bars are fixed to the drawings: sizes, spacing, laps and concrete cover.

Pre-pour inspection
Formwork, reinforcement and embedded items are checked before concrete is ordered.

Placing and compaction
Concrete is placed in layers, often by pump, and compacted to remove trapped air.

Curing and striking
The concrete is kept moist while it gains strength; formwork is struck when the design allows.
